Bombay Walks: Mcubed Library

Do you excitedly go Mmm... over books? Then, do visit Mcubed Library - a little gem on the very quiet D'Monte Park Road. At the moment, their collection caters largely to children. However, a section for adults is already in the pipeline. In case you wish to donate books or enroll yourself/someone or have time to volunteer at Mcubed, here's where you need to go:

Mcubed Library
(Maharashtra Mitra Mandal)
Princess Building, D'Monte Park Road, Next to Bandra Gymkhana
Bandra West, Mumbai, India - 400050.

Bombay Walks: St. Peter's Church, Bandra

It's been a while since I updated this blog. So, if you're reading this... HELLO!

I've met a wonderful bunch of people recently who love exploring Bombay/Mumbai as much as me. So, 'Bombay Walks' is a humble attempt at exploring little nooks and corners of this chaotic city and capturing it all in pictures. In the first of this photo series, here are snapshots from an afternoon wandering around the lovely St. Peter's Church (Bandra West), especially its cemetery. Found some very interesting detail on the older graves. Do have a look. As always, feedback is welcome.

Flt. Lt. Tolstoy Gilbert DeSouza of the IAF rests here. Really liked the way professions were mentioned on some graves.

Some graves at the entrance of the church, their text fading with time.

Wonder what these dates mean...

The magnificent entrance of the church

The one resting here could have been a lover of the sea... Or maybe s/he was anchoring her/his soul to the cross?

Lovely scroll design of one gravestone

Complete Surrender: Thy Will Be Done

The bell detail on the church walls

St. Peter holds the keys, remember?

Ornate, but lovely design depicting nature and life itself

Extravagant and a little spooky, those eyes.

United in death too

Reads: 'Jesus Called A Little Child' :(

Jesus Christ depicted in different ways

PS: I went a little crazy with Picasa's Lomoish feature, but it was too exciting to ignore. :)

Fast food?

Syrrrrupy and sweet!
Mawa Jalebis being designed and dropped in hot oil at a stall near Minara  Masjid, Mohammad Ali Road.
Quite liked the painting-like effect the phone camera produced in the low light. What do you think?

Autumn in Aarey

Caught this orangey shade on my way back from work... Autumn/winter are non-existent for us in Bombay but some really gorgeous colours light up the sky around this time of the year.

Stairway To Heaven?
